SOCIAL EVENING.
The Liardet-street Christian Endeavour spent a social evening with their friends and supporters at Whiteley Hall on Thursday night, when, in spite of the stormy night, there was a good attendance. Rev. J. N. Buttle presided, and an excellent programme, as follows, was given:—Piano solo, Miss Heldt; Rong, Mis Shorney; song, Mr A. Veale; reading, Mr Hulbert; song, Mrs Pikett; seng, Mr Oorringham;| piano solo, Mrs Pope ; duet, Mesdamea Pikett and Shorney; duet, Messrs J. K. and E. Chatlerton ; song, Mr Hughes; song, Mr RaveD. In addition to these items the Chairman gave a short address on Mission work, especially as to those fields under the control of the Methodist body, giving illustrations as to the self-sacrifice of missionaries in the cause, and urging all to support the good work as far as they could At thu conclusion of the programme refreshments were handed around and, needless to say, appreciated by those present. The Doxology and Benediction concluded a very eDjoyable evening.
