ABBOB DAT AT THE NATIVE SOHOOL
(Our Own Correspondent,) WxDNKfiDAY, the 15th instant, was observed as Arbor Day at the native school here. A working-bee was held, and some score or so of willing helpers cut and burnt the fern, planted trees, and nlougbed a portion of the schoo reserve, the plough being kindly lent by Messrs Greenway Bros. As to the trees, the committee have to acknowledge with thanks the kindness of Mrs Mitchinßon and the Morshead Nursery Company, cf New Plymouth, and of Messrs Cave and Groom, of Rahotu, for much appreciated donations of macrocarpas and pines of various kinds. These have all been planted out, and after a few years growth should give the school reserve a pretty and attractive appearance. The removal of our local post and telephone office to its present situation proves a great convenience to the district, and its usefulness would be still further increased by the addition of a money order office, which it is hoped may be opened before very long.
