RAILWAY SUPERANNUATION REGULATIONS.
DEPUTATION T 0 MINISTER.
PHB PRE«> ASSoOIAIIOH. Wellington, July 23. A deputation of members of Parliament waited on the Minister of Railways to-day with reference to the regulations under the Railways Superannuation Act, under which it appears that the time mu*6 be unbroken instead of whole time served being taken into consideration. The Minister said he was advised that the regulation was strictly in accoi dance with law. He had made 65 per cent of the temporary hinds permanent, so that they might share in the benefits of the scheme. To allow broken time to count was an impossibility, and would break down the scheme, besides necessitating increased contributions. Something was to be said for the man called out during the marine strike, and he was prepared to bring their case before the Cabinet, but was not prepared to allow broken time to count generally.
