LAND BOARD.
The Board met on Tuesday. Present : The Commissioner of Crown Lands (in the chair), Messrs JJeslop, Oonnettand McOlu^gage. Lands applied for since last meeting in Spotswood Settlement were: - Section 77, T. Spellman, 52 M. Diviney, 100 S. J. Orozier, 48 A. J. Courtney, 84 A. 0. Simpson. Consent was given ti T. Spellman to withdraw his application under circumstances which he explained and his deposit was refunded. The application of A, J. Courtney was Kft to the Commissioner to deal with and the other applications were approved. Applications for permission to transfer were made by A, 0. Upson to H. H. Upjon, section 24, block 5, Ngatimaru; S. A. N. Sullivan to W. J. Bridgeman, section 16, Upper Waitara; G. Keast to J, Armstrong, sublease of sections 18 and 20, block 6, Egmont; W. Knox to 0. Musker, jir,, sectioßS 18, 19, 21, block 2, Upper W&itara. The applications of Upson, Keast and Sullivan were approve), the last named being subj act to conditions being complied with. The application of Knox was deferred.
Consent was given to the following sub-leases: —M. and A. Brodie to G. R Moir and others, pirt section 1, block 14, Ng itimaru; W. P. Mark to G. T. Peirotr, section 21, block 9, Ngatimaru; H. Blair to Olaf McOutchen, section 1, block 14, Pouatu ; A. Corbett to W. A. Corbett, section 9, block 11, Cape; P. O'Connor to G. Ford and J. Murphy, section 15, block 15, Ngatimaru. Personal residence must be complied with by McOutchen, Corbett, Ford and Murphy, An application by W. C. Dickey to surrender section 8, block 3, Ohura, was refused.
In rep'y to H. D*nneth's refusal to sign license of section 6, block 2, Opaku, he is to be allowed to selec". another section if he had been misled as to his present section, but the Board cannot relieve him of his engagements.
It was resolved that certain selectors in arrear with rent be notified they must pay up by next meeting or their nterests will be forfeited.
An application for remission of rent by A. C. Fergusaon on S.G Run 5, Opaku, on account of losses, was referred to the Ranger for a report, The Ranger is also to report on T. P. Symman's application for an acre of the Whangamomona township reserve for a homestead site to sections 23,64, and 165, Mahoe. W. A. Thomas' explanation as to residence was deemed a satisfactory compliance with the Act.
Mr G. Firbank waited on the Board with reference to his and A. G. Firbank's interest ic sections 10 and 13, block 9, Mimi. It was resolved that failing a satisfactory arrangement between the parties and payment of rent by next meeting, the interest of both will be forfeited,
The Ranger reported on the inspection of 28 holdings, comprising 14,055 acres. R< quirf meats were to the value £4103, but improvements effected amounted to £7206. Eight selectors had not effected sufficient improvements, and of these three have been forfeited and one was unable to secure a burn. Four were in default as to residence and six were in residence where residence was not yet due,—The defaulters are to be notified.
The Commissioner reportei an advance of £23 had been made to a selector in Spotswood Settlement,— Consideration deferred till selector stated his wishes as to repayment. The application of O. J. and J. L. Ryan to transfer their sections is Ohura to ooe of th.m was complied wi'h.
Ste'ions 16 and 17, block 4, Ngati maru, are to be offered for selection weighted with valuation for improvements.
The action of the Commissioner in consenting to H. N. Latimnr cutting firewood on section 25, block 10, Ngatimaru, was confirmed.
Six months extension of time for residence was granted to J. E. Nelson on section 4, block 10, Pouatu, and to Messrs Mildenhall and Steed.
The interests of the following selector?, who had failed to execute their agreements to occupy sections in the Niho I.F. Sattlemont, were declared forfeited: R. McKidd, Henry Dense. W. Bond, R. Kelly, G. Kelly, and B. J, Redden.
W. Courtney applied to purchase part cf Nob's Line, between section 89 and part G. Fitzroy. The application wp s agreed to in terms of the Ranger's report. Proposals for expends are of thirds

The Stratford County Council applied for a certificate to pay thirds accrmd from sections 9 and 13, block 8, Huiio9, 18 and 24, block 5, Ngatimaru, for interest on Autawa Road loan. Agreed to subject to consent of le;see of section 9, block 8, Huiroa,
It was resolved to declare forfeited the interest of Messrs McCarthy and and Hunger in small grazing run 6, Opaku.
E. Ey.ley is to be called upnn to comply with conditions of residence and sow dosn in English grasses the arra ploughed up on section 4, block 9, Hawera.
The valuation of section 264, Patea for the purpose of sale was again c nsidered, and it was resolved to inform Mr Muir the Board will fix the piico at. £6OO, and that if be does not arc-pt that within a month the land will be put up for sale by public competition at the upset prica above named. The Board rose.
