MR PRESS ASSOCIATION. New Yobk, June 8. The Gongaree River in Carolina is running thirteen feet above the danger line, and is sweeping seaward debris from the Piedmont district. An enormous flood wave struck the Pdcolet mills and other mill towns. The War Department of Atlanta despatched rations and medicines. A steamer reacu'd two hundred people from the housetops at Blackwalnu*. Fifteen p'ople who were trying to strengthen a wall near Madron were drowned. CITIES UNDER WATER. REFUGE ON HOUSETOP?. RAILWAY TRAFFIC SUSPENDED. Received 9,10.12 pm. Nkw Yobk, June 9. A group of cities on the east side of the Mississippi, north-easi of St. Louis, are 10 to 18 feet under water. j Seven hundred people who spent a night on the house-tops were rescued by boats. ' j The railway is flodad, and traffic in these districts is suspended.
