MUNICIPAL DIFFICULTIES.
riR PRESS ASSOCIATION. Ohristohobch, June 1. The City Council finds it necessary to apply to the Colonial Treasurer for a further loan of .£SOOO to complete the abattoirs, making £20,000 altogether. The Mayor at a meeting of the Council this evening protested against the position of the Council in having to look after cases of infectious disease, bat without control over the hospital and the Board. He said that body should ba constituted a local health authority, or the Council should be given more power.
