PKB FBBSB ASSOCIATION. DnsEDiN, June 1. The greatest interest has been taken in the lieetitirg meeting. The Court was crowded shortly before the appointed hour. The elective members tf the committee occupied the b neb, and through Mr Cameron read a prepared statement. From this it appeared that the committee, considering they received a mandate f>om the constituency, invited the co-operation of "the facade" in effecting certain reforms, the curving out of which wou'd be made a condition of granting lic3ns?s. These included the abolition of second bars, providing efficient fire escapes, close attention to sanitary matters, the abolition of birmaids, dispensing wrh Counter lunches, which in future must be restricted to bread and cheese. The committee also drew attention to the relationship between landlord and tenant, and also intimated that some applicants were undesirable, and others failed to reside on the prem'ses, while others followed other employment. The Committee intended to refuse licens°s in all such case*. Mr Carew, P.M., then assumed the Chairmanship, and business began. The following given licenses were «fused:—Laffey's, Otago, Salutation, Thades, Annandale, Pelichet Bay, Waverley, and Mornington Hotels. The Committee decided to close all houses at 10 o'clock.
