PRESENTATION TO MR MCARA.
At the police statim oa Thursday evening, Mr R. A. McAra, who has for some time m:st ably filled the position of' assistant clerk to Mr Holme?, at the Courthouse, was, oa the eve of bis transfer to Palraerato.i North, presented by the local police ttaff with a of pipes, suitably inscribed. Constable Baattir, acting-sergeant, made th» presentation on I eha ! f of the local force, and referred in high terms of praise to the consistent courtesy and readiness to give every assistance in bis pw r that bad always been shown by Mr McAra towards the police. As Olerk of the Oourt at Waitara, Constable B-attij siid he hid frequent communications with Mr McAra, and had invariably received the utmost kindness and attention from bim.
j Constable McR»9 also briefly ex- ' pressed his appreoution of MrMcAra's siorling qualifies, and wished him succees in his new sphere of work. Mr McAra, in thanking tb.n police s'-eff for thuir kindness, said that, although he wan receiving promotion, hs greatly regretted 1 aviug New Plymouth, where he had found m*uy good friends, bus not.e whom he esteemed more highly thin the police. Mr McAra, who leaves for Palmerston fco-d y, carries with him the b-st wishei of a large circle of friends, Palmerston fortunate ia obtaining the services of such an ex e'leut official.
