FIRE INQUIRY.
FEB PBE9B ASBOCIATIOH, Wellington, Ma ch 25. The inquiry into the late fire in | Miib street aft=>r two days and a whole 1 night's pitting was concluded to-day, j the verdict baing that a fire occurred j in W. L. Ross' billiard room, but the j origin was not disclosed in the evid-1 ence though the matter is surrounded | by very suspicious circumstances. The jury further found that the property! was over insured, the owner's valuation of property being excessive and the owner's interests in the cookhouse was not so great a« the amount insured. They also felt sympathy for Pewce in; his loss, and considered his interests in the building had not been properly considered by the owner, and recommended that farther ioquiries be made by~the police." -- - _
