Tha polling has been small, and the complete returns are cot available tonight, but it is almost certain the moderates hive h«en returned, Results so far are : Carfcnr 536, M'ller 519, Sinclair 511, McGregor 491, Milne 490, Campbell 465, Dash 446, Brawn 443, Gilling 432, Dohermann 422. Wellington, March 25. In Wellington Oity the five reform Candida* es (as opposed to moderates) vprß elected, namsly, Rev. W. A, Evacs, Mr John Smith junr,, Dr. Ohapple, and Messrs A. H. Hoby and R. Wright. Toe Newtown election resultsd in the return of five prohibitionist's, namely, Rev. G. Bond, and Messrs, Rand, McKenzie, Keirf, and Co'lie. Dunedin, March 25. 1 For Waikouaiti the Prohibition Committee was elected.

For Civersham the temperance party was elected.

Mount Ida, with six returns to come, shows that Mr. Stewart, the only temperance candidate, is lowest o-i the list. Tuapeka elected al! moderates. Auckland, March 25.

For Waitemata the eleven o'clock candidates are leading, and for M mukau the moderates. Fivd moderates who constituted the old committee, were elected for Auck--1 ind City. I Greymouth, January 25. No prohibitionist is likely to be returned. Dunedin, March 25. The result of the Dunedin City election was the return of a prohibitionist Committee by a bubstsntial majority. For Caversham, prohibitionists wero also elected. Invercargill, March 25. For Invercargill the temperar ce candidates were elected, the modera es being defeated. Nelson, March 25. The Nelson elections resulted in the return of the old Committee with the addition of one moderate. The 10 o'clock license candidates were defeated. For Motueka the old Committee were elected.
