The motif of the play is the present condition of Ireland under the tenant system, and this subjec l ; is sufficiently wide to admit the co'ours being laid on with a generou3 hand for the purpose of the £enerdl audience, and while the wrongs of "that most distressful country" are brought out in " their most vivid light, a strong current of bright and sparkling comedy runs right through the play. Mr George Maj -roni, who impersonates the ' hero, Dandy Dunraven, has a most congenial part, and one which gives him ample scop a to display his great histrionic abilities; Mr Maro Maj°r>ni, as Stephen Flint, the bltck hearted son of Erin, has no eqnal on the colonial stage in that character.
