OPUNAKE NOTES.
(FhOM OUB OWK CORKEBP JNDENT). A deputation from the Opunake Chamber :of Commerce, consisting of Messrs Moore and Guy, waited on the Opunake\ School Committee at their last meeting held on January Bth, to' urge the necessity for establishing a District High School in Opunake. The committee considered the matter, and passed the following resolutions:- " That it is desirable that a District High School be formed in Opunake; that the chairman be instructed to communicate with other committees in the district and ask them to ascertain what number of pupils would be likely to attend from each school district." A considerable number have signified their intention of attending the District High School, arid it is pleasing to find that our leading townsmen are awaking to the necessity for advancing and protecting the educational interests of the distiict. They are determined not to allow our schools to fall behind in the intellectual race from mere stagnation and lack of interest. The Chamber is to be congratulated on the vigorous manner in which it his started in this matter, and it is hop9d that it will continue the good work and will push tfys laudable project to fulfilment.
