THE PROVINCIAL AT MOTUROA.
'Jhe Mayor of Stratford (Mr Tatton) in town, and yesterday was actively engaged in looking after several important details with reference to the s ?a s/de picnic at the Breakwater on 1 February Bth. In the course of conversation with hie Worship, it transpired that he had arrangedfwith the cha/<rman of the Freezing Works to, have the worlds opan for inspection by | L adult visitors interested in dairying Mem and after 2.30 on the day in Question. He states that the liveliest interest is being taken in the picnic in his part of the district, and that 'there will be a very large influx of visitors by the special trains. As a close holiday is being observed in Stratford and other places on the day fixed for the picnic, and as the trains will take passengers right through to the Breakwater, it is assumed that either a whole holiday will be observed in* New Plymouth, or that the places of business will close at 11 a.m. at
latest. Probably this matter will be settled at the meeting this evening. So far as the sea trips are concerned, thanks to the forethought and enterprise of Mr Walker, the local manager for the Union S.S, Company, most satisfactory arrangements have been made. Knowing the disappointment exparienced at the last seaside picnic owing to only one trip being made, he has arranged for two trips at very reasonable fares, and as the Takapuna is to be the vessel to maks the trips, they are sure to be largely patronised. There is no doubt thit'the local committee will do all in their piwer to promote the enjoyment of all the visitors.
