FKB PMSS ASSOCIATION, | Dunkdis, January 16. i Tbe City Council, by seven votes to ! five, decided to enter into a oontr&ct with Messrs Noyes Bros., of Sydney, for tbe construction of an electric system of trams. The debate was heated, j and lasted till 5.30 this morning. Thej minority contended that public tender] was the only fair plan, and that the proposal meant a leap in the dark, and \ giving Messrs Noyes Bros. a> .£IBO,OOO job. Noyes Bros, are, in terms of the contract, to receive 10 per cent, on the whole of the works in conneotion with the conversion of the present system to eleotric.
