TOWN SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
At a meeting of the Town School Committee held on Monday evening, Mrs Dnwling's report on the West Infant S.hool was read, showing the average attendance for the present month to have been 142.5 out of a roll of 153. The committee paesid a resolution congratulating Mrs Dowling on the result of the inspector's txaniination, showing only seven failures out of those presented. They also passed a resolution agreeing to tie piop'sed tratsfei* between the Warea and the Central Schools.
Mr A. E. Sykes was elected to fill the vacancy on the committee created by the resignation of Mr Todd. Messrs J. Hooker and Thos. White were elected the visiting committee for the remainder of the committee's term of office.
The visiting committee reported th ■> , attendance at the Central School to have averaged almost 540 for the past four weeks (the headmaster being too busy with the examinations to prepare a report).
