LAND BOARD.
The Board met on Monday. Prefeot: Messrs Strauchon (Commissioner, in cbe chain), Kelly, and Heslop. The following transfers were agreed to :—O. Store to T. Coot, seotion 11, block 3, Hawera; M. McCormick to W. Syrae, section 12, block 5, Upper Waitara; D. Wildermoth to W. Bowers, section 7, block 6, Pouatu; D. Q. Kelly to L. Terry, section 30, block 13, Pouatu; T, Reader to Mnlone and WorthiDgton, section 21, block 4, Omona; F. McPhee to Jane and Hughes, sections 17 and 18, block 16, Ngtimaru; D. H. Evans to F, Marsom, sections 14, 17, block 6, Egraont; R. Jones to W. Purdon, section 27, block 2, Huiroa.
J. H. Paulger's application to tracsfor section 6, block 15, Upper Waiters, to W. McAsey, under section 147 of the Land Act, was approved in accordance with a previous resolution of the Board,
P*rmissioa to sub-let was grant«d a-» under:— G. W. Lloyd to W. and H. Hellier, sect.oos 9 and 10, block 15, Ngatimaru; 0. W. Field to A. J. Duan, section 10, block 2, Opunake. A number of applications relative to mortgnges were dealt with. The following applications for freeholds weie approved :—Shearman and Twomey, section 32, block 14, Opunake ; J. Campbell, section 9, block 1, .Ngatimaru; E. Nops, section 47, block 10, Huiroa. Applications to surrender approved : S. B. Heslop, section 2, blo.'k 11, Opaku; W. H. Holloway, cectioo 1, block 7, Gape. H. G. Dickie will be allowed to surrender section 7, block 12, Opaku, on payment of rent due on Ist July last. Proposals for expenditure of d.p, " thirds" were approved as follows: Patea East Road Board, £9 5s 3d; Egmont Road Board, £1 Is 3d; Manganui Road Board, £49 4s lOd, D. Hedgman was granted the grazing of section 86, block 10, Pouatu, on a yearly tenancy, The Under-Secretary for down Lands advised that there is no power tost apart as a public reserve any portion of taken land not required for a street or road, having reference to a resolution of the Board to se r . apart a portion of the Bawbitiroa-road resn've at RukumoaDa as a reserve for travelling stosk.
It was resolved to iuform the UnderSecretary that the Board considers it advisable the land should be secured, and steps should be taken ts have it set apart for the purpose mentioned, Mr Spence, solicitor for Huiakama settlers, applied on behalf of J. Neilson to dispose of patt of section 26, block 10, Ngatimaru, as a site for a store. Deferred, pending receipt of accurate sketch of the proposed site, Mr Sladden's report on timbsr and indications of coal on linds recently surveyed in the Waitara Valley, Pouatu S.D., was lead, and consideration de-l furred. I
It was agreed to dispose of Faction 665, J?atea, to John Mason, under section 117 of the Act of 1892, at a price previously agreed upon. An application by f. Sullivan for a lease of Crown hnds betw/een the Mo-kau-roid and Mjroi stieam, north of section 5, block }, Upper Waitara, and an application from Tahana Kawhe for a lease of a portion of the same land, were referred to the ranger for his report.
After dealing with a quantity of routine business the Board adjourned.
