NEW THEATRE FOR AUCKLAND.
FIR PBESB ASSOCIATION. Auckland, December 12. Some time ago it wnß notified that pr p sals were on foot for the erec'ion of a new playhouse in Auckland. The arrangements are now comph ted, and it is expected that the theatre will be ready by Dtcamber, 1902. A syndica'e form'd to carry out the proposals has fecured about three qtnrfrra of an acie, in Queeii-etreet, upon which it is intended to build a handsome block at a cost of £20,000 or more. This will contain a row of shops, suites of office?, commercial travellers' club, and j an arcade leading to the theatre at the j back.
