(From Our Own Correspondent) The Rev. J. H. White gave his lecture on "Nansen's Furthest North," and was listened to with great interest by those p-esent. Outlining early attempts at Polar exploration, giving a vigaet'e of Sir John Fr.iuklio and his several voyages, referring to Nansen's crossing Gr<-cnknl, he followed wifcha graphic narrative of the Fram's journey, the sledge expedition north of Nansen and Johansen, their breaking of the record in reaching highest altitude, their peri's and final meeting with Jackson, return to Norway (reaching it after over three years' absence just a few days before the Fram if self), the success achieved, the acclamations ri c-ived —tha whole was a story of thrilling adventure and interest, The lecturer exhibited an ex'csllent chart of the Pohr regions, showiog " Fram's route," ditto Nansen's and Johansen's after leaving the Fram, with all parts of chief interest duly marked. This, the work of Mr. White's' daughter, contributed not a little to the intelligent following of the recital on the pirb of the audienca. A vote of thanks concluded the proceedings.
