A special mee ing of the County Council was held on Monday. Present: Me'S-s H. Okey (Chairman), Wareham, McDonald, Brown, Lepper, Hopson, Tate and Phillips. LOCAL GOVERNMENT BILL. The Council then considered the provisions of the Local Government Bill together with suggestions submitted by the Southland County Council. On the question of the qualification for a County voter, the Chairman moved, "On condition that the Gov. rnment take over the whole of the main roads throughout the County this Council suggests that residents of 12 mon'hs and occupiers with a lease for at least one year be allowed to vote" This was seconded by Mi-. Hopson and carried. The Southland Council's suegastions that a ratepayer be qualified to vote in any riding in which he is a ratepayer; and as to rolls and hours of polling, wen adopted. Mr. Hopson gave notice of motion for next meeting, That the Council consider the advisability of appointing an overseer for the whole Oonnty. Mr. W, Northoott was appointed c ilkctor of dog tax for the Egmont Rood D's'rict at 8d per dog. On the motion of Mr. Phillips, it was ordered that when m mb®n of the Council are traveling as committeemen on committee busings 3, they be paid their travelling expenses. The Council then rose.
