GOLF.
The formal opening of the Ngamatu Golf Links was held last Siturday, and except fo? the weather was very succesful. The mixed foursome competi- ] tion resulted ns follows:—Misg 0. S-anford and Mr. A Stanfjrd 64; Miss G. Stanford and Mr. Johnston ; Mips Deacon and Mr. 0. H. ! Weston 81; Miss Skeet and Mr. Ward 82 ; Miss thzilland Mr. Dempsey 93; I Mrs. Morrison and Mr. W. 0. Weston jlo2. The round of 64 by Miss 0. Stanford and Mr. A, Staut'ord was a good one on any day and all the more so on account of the high wind. The prizes were presented, by Mr. W. 0. Weston. Afternoon tea was kindly p ovided by the ladies. Givat pains are being token to let jihe greens into good pliying order, and given fine weather gome goad golf id expected during the coining season.
