(FOt PBKB ASSOCIATION). (Received 30. 9.43 p.m. Sydney, March 30. \ Freetraders have been elected for Merriwa, Comrey and Oanoblan. Bpowb ■ Laboar candidate, defeating M. Wise, Attorney-General. At Sju'r Sydney, Edwards was elected beating McGowan, leader of the Labour party, by 461. were elected for Uswper, Gierke, Hujae and Lyne. The latter is incomplete, but unlikely to affect the peei.'den. The state of parties is seventeen Freetraders, eight Protectionist?, one Libor "member. la some of the larger scattered districts Tetania are incomplet?, and may alter the s'a f e of parties somewhat. In Victoria Protectionists were returned fer—Beurke, Cook; Corangatite, Manifold; LaaßCcoorie, Grose Freetraders, Flinders—Groem, Wannon, and Cooke. Six feats are incomplete. Westralian results are :—Swan and Sir John Forrest, Protectionisms, ■meppeeed. Fremantle, Solemen, Freetrader; Perth, Fowler, Freetrader. The rest of the returns are incomplete. Tasmania* results are :—Freetrade : Braddos, Piesse, and Cameron ; the latter snpperts the Ministry. Protectionists : Fysh and OinaUey. The approximate aggregate is: Protection, 25; Freetrade, 25; Independent, 1. Ministerialists have 26 supporters. Received 30,4.7 p.m. Sydhk, March 30. The figures for Newcastle were wrongly posted, later returns showing Watkia's, the Labour candidate, beat Gilbert by a largo majority, For Oowpor, Clarke the Protectionist, has a good lead, otherwise the later returns to midday, including those for tb° Senate, are pracVca'ly unchanged. Mbxboijbnk, March 30. For Yam, Tudor the Protectionist, was elected. Received SO, 9 52 p m. Sydney, March 30. ~ The Senate returne ire far from tomplete. Mr Barton expects to carry the balance of the Vic'wian seats ie the House, and thinks the final returns will improve the position in New South Wales. A storm in the country is preventing the return! in Victoria from coming in. Mr Reid expressed satisfaction at the way in which the Free Traders stack together in New booth Wales. He believed at least fiv* of the Free Trade bunch for the Senate will be elected. The elec'ions cause little excitement in the other States. (Received 31, 5.57 p.m.) Sydney, March 31. Watkins, elected for Newcastle, is a Labour Protectionist. The latest returns for the Senate, place Neill ahead of Gray. Mr Reid received a telegram from Perth stating that six Freetraders were elected.

Elections are quiet, none of the returns are complete but the latest practically assure the return of the following. For the Hense, Kingston and Bonython, Protectionists; Batehelor, Labour Protoc f ionist; Holder and Glynn, (Freetraders. For the other two seats Poyaton tad Solomon, Freetraders, are leading. For the Senate, Barker, Charleston, and Sy«on, Freetraders; Downer, McGregor, and Playford, Protectionists, are leading.

For the Heuse of Representatives for Brisbane, Patterson, Freetrader, is elected ; none of the other returns are complete.
For the Senate, Higgs, Dawson, S*ewart (Labour). Drake Ferguson, and Glaesey (Protectionisms) are leading. A Received 1, 12.57 a.m. I Sydney, March 31. Tasmania and South Australia are being treated as one electorate. Tasmanians vote subject te tbe Hare Speace System. Brisbine, March 31. A feature of the elections in Queensland ia the success of the Labor pirty. Skene, a Freetrader, for trie Grampians. Harper, a Piotectionist, for Meruda. Phillips, a Protectionist, for Wimmera. Brisbane, March 31.
