At he General Synod to-day, after passing a resolution of sympathy with Dean Jacobs' family, recommended the Committee on trusts to subscribe £2OO for the election of a B shop's residence Dunedin; £75 towards the reduction of the debt on the Bishop's Court, Wellington, conditionallyoa the diocese raising £225, and a similar roudi'ioDal Rllocation to the Wellington Bishopric Endowment Fund. There was a considerable discussion on the motion of Archdeacon Cholmondely, to allow the lessens to be read from the revised version of the Bible where desired, and it was ultimately lost, as was a motion askiug the Bishops to revise the list of lessons and psalms. At the evening sitting, theouly witter tikeu was a Bill for the trial of [Bihhops if charged wi;,h any of the following offences:— (1) Crime or im morality; (2) wilful and persistent violation of the provisions of the constitution or of the ecclesiastical lawn infoioi in the diocese; (3) neglect of duty; (4) false docttine.
After some discus-ion the second reading was carried.
The Bill was then taken into com inittee and gotsd progress made.
