FIRE AT SEA.
(PBB PBES3 ASSOCIATION). Auckland, February 7. The steamer Ovalau, just arrired from the Eastern Pacific, reports the destruction by fire at eea of the fourmasted barque Pyrenees, which left Tacoma on October 14th with a c»rgo <.f wheat for Glasgow. The fire broke out among the cirgo. The vessel wns beached at Gambia Ishnd, 800 miles from Tahiti, and the crew began salvage operations, everything possible being removed, but they could not subdue the fire, and Captain Boyce determined to abandon the ship. The crew were picked up by a trading schooner and taken ta Papeetn. wbei e the salvage was sold for .£2OO, The crew went to San Francisco. Oo January 24, when the ship was abandoned, the fire was raging from stem to stern.
