AMENDMENTS MADS.
Wellington, August 29. Resolutions were adopted by the House last night rescinding the tariff alterations of the 13th August, and substituting the following fresh Hchedule of duties, to take effect on aud | fitter to-day:—T*a, 2d per lb; currants Unci raisins, id per lb ; candles, Id per -lib or package of that reputed weight, ifiud so in proportioa for packages of I Ssater or less reputed weight; cocoa, per lb; coffee (roasted), 3d per lb; stearine for match-making, |d per lb; paraffin wax, Id per lb; matches, wax pllaid vestas in cardooard boxes containing under 100 matches, Is per gross; wax sportsman's ovals and Nr. 4 tin vestas, in boxes containing not more than 200 matches, and wax, utlier kinds, for every 100 matches or fraction thereof contained in one box, 2s 3d each p-r gross of boxes; "patent medicines, proprietary inedicinei and medicament*, (1) bearing tne name of the proprietor on lab* or package, (2) bearing prefixed nam in possessive case (not otherwise enu marated) prepared by an occdt seore o • art, sarsaparilla, drugs and sundries, aud apothecaries wares (no itherwne enumerated), chemicals (nu otherwise enumerated), includin. photographic choinicals and glacial tcetic acid (» p stand*!d) tinctuies tud medicinal spirits of any recognised pharmacopoeia containing 50 pur cen proof spirit or less, all £ls pur cen .; sieam engines and parts thereof, including boiler or boilers therefor, imported especially for mining or goid Hiving purposes and processes or foi dairying purposes free.
It was also resolved that after tolay duties on the following goods shall cease: —Kerosene, rice (dressed or undressed), rice (manfacturad into starch, in bond), salt, coffee (raw), all machinery for agricultural purposes, including chaff-outtors, corn crushers, core shellers, also articles used in manufacturing the same, viz., chaff-cutting knives, tilt rakes, fittings for threshing mills, forgings for ploughs, machinery for dairying purposes, machinery ol every description for mining purposes, including machine pumps, but not in eluding maohinery for dredging, portable engines on four or any great number of wheels with boiler of looomotire typa; alg) traction engines, liquid chlorine, cyanide of sodium, engine governors, ell bolts and nuts, blank or sorewed nuts, black or finished nuts, blowers, welded and Hinged boiler furnaces, plain or corrugated, chain pulleys, blocks of all descriptions, and chains for same, engineers', boilermakers' brats finishers', smiths' and all metal and woodworkers', machine and band tools, steel rams, black or finished, for hydraulic cranes or jiggers.
