VOLUNTEER NEWS.
Thb Taranaki Rifles held an inspection parade last night under Captain Okey, V.D,, and Lieut, Cock, Lieut. Hooker being absent through illness. Captain Okey announced that the battalion had decided to adopt the service khaki, and that members, must be measured for same at the- New Zealand Clothing Factory at once. Dress trousers to match the blue uniform will be procured early next year, and that uniform will then be used for ceremonial parades. Class firing for recruits and trained men will be practically completed by the end of the present month, and the targets altered for match and trophy firing. A feature of the recruit class firing has been the excellent scores' made by the majority of the recruits, over twenty having qualified to lire the trained men's course. One recruit (a Stratford boy) made the phenomenal score of 172 out of a possible 200.
