CLEVER ESCAPE OF A PRISONER.

A HORSE COMMANDEERED. [P«B PBEHS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, May 3. A prisoner named Teece, who was being taken to gaol yesterday, handcuffed to another prisoner, slipped hi* bonds and as soon as the cab stopped bolted, and was not re-captured, although there were two constables in attendance. Early this morning a valuable bay horse with equipment wan stolen from the stables of Mr. J. Ooatee, General Manager of the National Bank. The groom had fed the horse shorth before its loss was noticed. It is suspected that Teece may have got away upon the animal.
