WATER SUPPLY DYNAMITED
STEEL STRIKE ECHO MILITARY INVESTIGATION Plant Shuts Down For Fortnight Press Association — Copyright. Received 11.30 a.m. New York, June 29. A message from Johnstown states that two mysterious explosions cut off the main water supply to the Bethlehem Steel Plant, and forced the suspension of operations in the middle of the back-to-work movement, which the company claimed had restored operations to normal. Investigators said that dynamite had apparently been placed under the stone water tunnels in the mountains a few miles from the city. The blast shattered windows in homes within a quarter of a mile radius. There was no one injured. Strike leaders denied responsibility. They said they deplored the incident. Two hundred soldiers have been assigned to guard the highways and search all motor vehicles. A military investigation has been ordered at the plant, which is expected to shut down for a fortnight.
