Of 21 B radio stations operating in the Dominion the Government has purchased nine, and indications are that it will be able to take over a few more, according to a statement by the acting-Minister in Charge of I Broadcasting, Hon. F. Jones, in an ■ interview. ! “By Saturday we will know the ; position regarding the others, and when we get that information we shall discuss the question of what stations, should be subsidised and to what extent,” said Mr Jones. “That, of course, refers only to the stations we d'o not purchase, and it. will take some time.” Mr Jones repeated the assurance that there would be no compulsion on the stations to sell.
