Griffiths, the New Zealand aviator who has been fighting in Sp-iin, met Miss Fay Robinson, cf Hia-taYai, Welling- • on, On disembarking from the Monowai. Captain Griffiths and Miss Robinson are to ba married in Wellington shortly. Asked to-day if it was a f ’<l‘ thiDt she had accept ed Captain Griffiths’ cabled proposal of marriage while he wins engaged in aerial warfare in Spain, Miss Robinson said that was so, and laughed happily when the reporter offered his congratulations “We were sweethearts at school in Welling.ton,” said Miss Robinson. “Ten years ago we were always, 'together. Eric went to the Wellington Boys’ College, and I went to the Wellington Girls’ College. He was always of an adventurous disposition, and early showed a strong inclina|tion for the air. “Three years ago she went away, and you can imagine how happy 1 was.- when I saw him again this morning. Three years is a long time, especially when Eric wa<s engaged in the hazardous occupation of flying. “Yes,” she said, laughing, “he did propose to me by cable. Last October, I was thrilled to gelt a cable from him, sent from Valencia, asking me if I would marry him.”
