OPERATION AT SEA

Baker, a noted banker, was operated on at sea after his , yacht Viking had hailed 'the Niagara. ’ The liner’s physician had boarded the i yacht. H-e was suffering from peri- i ten i tig. After the operation Mr Baker’s con- I dition was reported to be satisfactory, • but a turn for -the worse later oc- i curved and the' coastguard cutter at ! Honolulu was ordered to rush medi_ ' cal supplies to the Viking. The yacht I afterwards, also asked for blood donors, indicating that 'transfusions were necessary, but the cutter had already left. A naval aeroplane was therefore ordered to carry serum to the Viking to be used- instead.
