MOUNTAIN CLUB
I SUCCESSFUL YEAR I ; Ninth Annual Meeting I A year of considerable activity was reviewed at the ninth annual meeting □X the Stratford Mountain Club last p'lght. Mr T. Kirkwood presided over a large attendance of members'. Speaking to the motion for the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet (already published!), Mr A. W. White, club captain, said hat although the financial position was not altogether bright, the report disclosed a very satisfactory state of affairs. In the past, continued Mr White, the club had' been criticised for not catering- sufficiently for climbers and trampers, but a lot of time had been taken up in working bees. This year working bees had been considerably lighter and climbing ac- ! tavities had been sufficient to refute j the criticism that the club was mere. j ly a ski-ing club. ! Officers were elected as follows: I Patron, Dr. Wi. P. P. Gordon; presl*dent, Mr T. Kirkwood'; vice_presi- | dent, Mr C. McCormick; club captain, jMr A. W. White; vice club captain, [Mr C. Thomson; chief guide, Mr J. ICarryer; secretary and treasurer, Mr D. Thomson; lion, auditor, Mr G. A. Carter; hon. publicity officer, Miss H. Bogle; hon; surgeons, Drs. W. P. P. Gordon and Doris Gordon; committee, Messrs Brian McMillan, Gt Carryer, P. Sehwieters, C. W. Jury, Bruce McMillan, A. L. Osborn, Misses E. Pearce, H. Coward, J. Jackson, M. Coward. Taranaki ski committee representatives, Messrs Brian McMillan and A. W. White. Ths committee was authorised, if necessary, to appoint- a sub.committee comprised of members not on the general committee to assist with any social function. The secretary was voted an honorarium of £2 2s. Ths incoming committee was recommended to go into the matter of securing honorary members. * It was further recommended that the committee reconsider a previous decision not to affiliate with the New Zealand Ski Council. The following new members were elected:—Misses K. Goodwin, H. [Bogle, Pearce; Messrs Gt Dorfllngier, i J. Murphy, D. Paul, Stoddart, G. Hus_Iton, P. Bertie, R. Kivell, E. Sweetj man, J. Aitken, E. A. Flynn, A. Pettigrew.
