TRAGEDY AT TOKO

Child Found Drowned In Creek (Special to ‘‘Central Press.”) Edward Percy Griffiths, aged 2| years, son of Mr Percy Griffiths, carrier, of Toko, was drowned in a creek at the back of his parents’ residence near the Toko dairy factory this morning. The lad was missed at about 11.30 a.m., and footsteps were found at the edge of the creek. A large party of settlers took part in a search, which resulted in the finding of the body floating in a backwash about a mile from the house two hours later. Dr W. P. P. Gordon was called and pronounced life extinct. An inquest was opened before Mr W. L. Kennedy J.P., and adjourned after evidence of identification had been given.
