EMPIRE DAY
Service At St. Paul’s Next Monday (British Offici-al Wireless.) Rugby, May 19. The King and Queen will attend a service at St Paul’s Caihedral next Monday, Empire Day. Twenty_one other members of the Royal Family will also be present, and the congregation will include almost the whole Cabinet and nearly 2000 Empire representatives and overseas visi ors. DAME ENID LYONS TO BROADCAST Press Association —Copyright. London, May 19. Dame Enid Lyons, wife of the Aus'iralian Prime Minister, Mr J. A. Lyons, will broadcast an Empire-wide speech on 1 May 24 .in connection with Empire Day. Owing to the strain of continuous official engagements she intends to have a short respite in the country from where she will broadcast. Dame Enid has been honoured by being photographed for the National Portrait Gallery, joining other dis. tinguished people whose portraits are preserved for all time. She will open a fair at Beaconsfield on June 9 to raise funds for a memorial to the late G. K. Chesterton, the famous! novelist.
