SEAPLANE EXPLOSION TRIAL FLIGHT OFF ANTIBES France’s Latest TransAtlantic Craft Press Association—Copyright. . (Received 12.35 p.m.) Paris, May 19. France’s latest trans-Atlantic passenger seaplane, embodying fiv e years’ research, unexpectedly dipped from a height of 150 feet in the course of a trial flight, off Antibes, over a rough sea. A large wave tore off a wingfloat. The crack pilot, M. Bour_ din, W as endeavouring to assess the damage, when an explosion, apparently due to escaping killed him and both the wireless operators instantly, and threw them into the sea. Two mechanics and three passengers were injured, and motor boats rescued them. The seaplane weighed' seventeen tons, had a speed of 200 miles per hour, and a range of 2000 miles.
