Mother’s Confession New York, May 18. The police state tngt Helen Tiernan, age® 25, a widowed embroidery worker, confessed that the killed her daughter, the seven-year-old child who was found in the woods near a New York suburban community yesterday. She attempted also to kill her son. Believing both were dead, she sprinkled petrol about, ignited it, and fled. Her motive was her detire to remarry and her belief that the apartment was too small for both her children and her prospective husband. She stalled: “I wanted to kill them, not hurt them.” She later amended her confession and implicated her sweetheart. The police are inclined to disbelieve the amended confession. The ton, Jimmie, recovered sufficiently to say, "Mummy hit me and sister.” He is expected to be the principal witness at a trial far -murder.
