ZEP. HINDENBURG EXPLODES
TRAGEDY IN UNITED STATES MAMMOTH CRAFT LANDING AT LAKEHURST Between 125 And 150 Believed To Be Killed (Association Extraordinary) Received 1.25 p.m. New York, May 6.
The Zeppeim, Field Marshal von Hindenburg, Germany’s latest mammoth craft, exploded while landing at Lakehurst, New Jersey, to-day. It is believed that between 125 and 150 were killed. The Hindenburg, which was constructed of a light metal alloy and filled with helium, was about 390 feet in length. The Hindenbur, intended for the German - South American trade, was launched in April of 1936. It has made numerous trips acres the Atlantic. Dr Flugo Eckener who, in 1928, completed the Graf Zeppelin, designed the Field Marshal Von Hindenburg and originally was in command.
