Mrs. R. McLean has returned to Stratford from Auckland.
Mrs. G. Connor, Page Street, entertained friends during the week. * * * Mrs V. Fookes, Brecon Road, visited friends in Hamilton during the week-end. * * * Miss Taylor, of The Vicarage, was | “at home” to some friends on Thurs- ■ day afternoon. * * * Mrs. A. H. R. Amess, Percy Avenue, spent the week-end in Auckland 1 with her daughter, who is at the Uni- j versity there. * * * Mrs. L. J. Rowell gave an enjoyable party on Thursday • afternoon. Those present were: Mesdames E. H. Young, D. Jefferies, A. O. Hugo, D. R. Thompson, H. Hislopp, R. McLean, • L. Furrie, S. Lindop, V. Fookes, P. Thomson, D. Shannon, P. Marchant, W. Williams, and the Misses Spence and Wood. * * * Mrs. A. H. R. Amess wore a becoming black frock, with touches of crimson, when she entertained friends this week. Blue and green hydrangeas, blue delphiniums and pink and blue asters were artistically arranged in the drawing-room. Those present were: Mesdames W. J. Hale, A. O. Hugo, F. Bowler, Hector Johnson, McGregor, and the Misses Knight and Martin.
