CAPTURED BY SHERIFF Guns in Action in American Arrest. Press Association—Copyright. Topeko (Kan.), April 18. A Federal Department of Justice agent v.*as critically wounded and a bystander was injured in an attempt made to arrest a suspected bank robber. A Federal agent named Baker and three associates trailed three suspects -to Topeka and for several dayc waited at the registry window of a post office in the expectation, that the robber would appear to claim a package. A suspect finally arrived and a postal clerk signalled to Baker, who ordered the man to surrender. An accomplice of the Euspect in the background opened fire, hitting Baker four times. The Federal agents then returned the fire, but the robbers escaped through a side door, and made off in a car. The robbers were captured by a sheriff and a deputy at Plattsmouth, Nebraska, after the car had struck a deep hole in a street and nearly ovetJ turned. The officers, who had been following the robbers for 10 miles, drew guns a.nd commanded their surrender. The men were handcuffed without resistance. Mr Edgar Hoover, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, said the robbers were Gerald Lewis* and Robert Huhayp, of New York.
