FASCIST THREAT

PRINCE’S BANISHMENT IRON GUARD IN RUMANIA Secret Session of Inner Cabinet Circles. Prees Association —Copyright. Received 11 a.m. Bucharest, April 18. Prince Nicholas, who will henceforth be known as “Mr. Nicholas Brana,’’ has sent a letter to M. George Tatarescue, the Prime Minister, disclaiming his connection with, or support of, the Iron Guard. According to the Bucharest correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, the inner circle of the Rumanian Cabinet held an almost two-day secret session at the house of Prime Minister to discuss measures to deal with the Iron Guard’s threatening attitude to King Carol over his treatment of his brother Nicholas. M. Tatarescue declared that the police" would take the strongest ac-_ tion against any demonstration in favour of Nicholas. Professor Gerota, surgeon to the Royal Family and a member of the Iron Guard, has been arrested and charged with sedition. M. Philipescu, Conservative, in a speech attacked the Iron Guards, declaring that every Iron Guard outrage would be answered by tenfold reprisals by the Democratic Party. Meanwhile General Cantacuzenu, commander of the Iron Guard, at a meeting of the Guard, read a letter from Nicholas stating that he did not refuse to obey Carol. Also, he did not renounce his rank, but was degraded by the King.
