Only one case of infantile paralysis was admitted to the Wellington hospital during the week-end. this being a boy of five years from Lower Hutt. Another case, which was admitted on Saturday afternoon, a girl aged five; ! from Island Bay, proved negative, j Two further cases have been noti- | fled to the health authorities at Palin- ■ erston -North, a boy aged 13, from the i city, and a boy aged seven from LeI vin. Both have been admitted to hosj pital for observation, but are expectI ed to prove positive, the case from the city showing evidence of slight paralysis. The total number of cases is now 16. AU the schools have been closed at Palmerston North until further notice, at the request of the Director of Education. One case, that of a two and a-halt i year old Maori girl, was reported iat Nuhaka, East Coast, during the j week-end. The patient was removed to the Wairoa Hospital. Only one further case of infantile paalysis was notified in the Wairarapa over the week-end, the patient being a boy, aged 15, from Masterton, who was admitted to the Masterton' Hospital yesterday afternoon. Of the nine cases now in hospital five have ; been diagnosed as positive, including - the latest patient who had just re- | turned from a holiday at Greytown where he took ill.
