BRIGADES’ COMPETITION
SHIELD EVENT. Stratford’s Fourth Successive Win. The artnual |S!tratford-EKl|3m firs brigade teams shield competition was held at Stratford at the week-end, Eind for the fourth time in succession Stratford was the winner. Since 1912, when the competition was inaugurated, Stratford has won the shield 12 times ito Eltham's 11, there being three years in which challenges.' were not entered. In presenting the shield to the Stratford brigade, Superintendent 11. Nuttall, Eltham. congratulated all tha teams and referred to the friendly spirit that existed between the brigades. Superintendent Brocklebonk of Stratford, replied. Members of the Eltham brigade were entertained at morning tea at the Stratford fire station. Officials were: Judges, Superintendents Nuttall and Brockleba.nk; examiner, Deputy-Superintendent P. T. ‘ Aitken (Stratford); starter, Custodian W. Brocklebank; timekeepers, ex-Fireman G. Brocklebank (New Plymouth) and Fireman J. J. Pearce (Stratford). IResult s were: Two-men dry event: Stratfor! (Fireman R. Boyd and J. Davis) 36 2-ss, penality 2s, 38 2-58, Eltliam Foreman L. Nees and Fireman W. Cower) 39 4-5 s 2. Three-men replace and carry gear i wet event: Stratford (Firemen J. Davis, D. Butcher and R. Watsop) 19 4-5 e 1, Eltha.m (Foreman Nees jnd Fir men Gower and M.
