THEFT FROM LIBRARY
PARCEL WITH £6O. ROBBERY AT EPSOM. Man Enters Waiting Car. Press Association —Copyright. Auckland, April 14. As the Epsom branch of the Public Library was about to close last night, a man picked up from the counter a parcel containing £6O odd in cash, a book and a receipt book, and made off. Two library attendants were, at the moment, replacing books in the reading-room, and attending to other duties. As she was returning to the lending library, one of them, Miss Nutting, noticed a man walking away from the counter. She thought he had been changing a book, but she noticed that the parcel was missing and followed him. Then he commenced running along Bracken Avenue and entered a saloon car, the engine of which was .running. The fact that he entered by the left side suggests that the driver was awaiitng his return. A flying squad of detectives were soon on the scene, and they are still investigating.
