County Engineers Asked to Submit Plans. Press Association—Copyright. Taumarunui, April 13. During his visit, to ithe Taumaru nui district, Hon. R. Semple, Mini®ter of Public Works, said he would ask county engineers throughout the Dominion to submit plans of works that needed doing, each plan te have the work marked in order of pretei _ ence so that the most urgent needs could be. tackled. The first plan would stretch over five years, said Mr Semple. This would remove the necessity of deputations, and when the department said a job ’Would be done The work would be finished without delay. His department was now using modern, miechaniaeid >and| already there had been a saving in coats of 33 1-3 per cent. Mr Semple also said he was not satisfied with the way in 'Which electricity was delivered to sparselypopulated areas. In his view the people of the Dominion would never enjoy the full ‘advantages of electricity until it was controlled' T?y the Government. The department had negotiations now in train for taking over the plants of several power boards and local bodies.
