HOUSES SELLING
Position in Christchurch. There has been almost a complete reversal of the position in the house property market in Christchurch in the last six or nine months (says the Stiar-Sun). Previously land agents nad difficulty in making sales, but now the demand is so keen that they lave difficuKy in securing sufficient houses to meet the requirements of clients. A land agent interviewed said the demand for houses was most excep.iorial and many buyers were willing o pay the full prrchase price in cash. A great many others were able to pay deposits of £lOO or more. Prices, he said, had risen during the past few months as a result of the greater deffiahd find the increased 3ost of building, but they were not yet back to the pre-d epress ion level. Many sales were being made, he added, but the number would be much greater if thsre were more houses on the market. The greatest demand was for homes costing from £BOO to £lOOO.
