WARPED LIVES.

STRAIGHTENING OUT. Mind Doctors’ Successes. Crime doctors of the Institute for the Scientific Treatment of. Delinquency; in Britain, who claim, that crime can be cured like any other disease, are proud of one of their latest eases, says an overseas journal. It is that of a man, aged 24, who, although sentenced' four times for ourglary, is now going straight: because of psychological treatment. Mr St. John Hutchinson. K.G., in making a broadcast appeal, on behalf of the inst,i.ute said: “Crime is not simply a matter of the cinema, courts and police, it is 'a problem for everyone.’’ The man in his example, he was brought up in n slum by fosterparems, and, after years in bad surroundings, his mind became warped, he began to mix with undesirable boys, and eventually became a criminal. Since he had been taken in hand by the institute, he had kept straight for a longer period than ever before, and was developing a new sense of moral values. As a result., he was gaining a proper sense of pride in his work and friends, and the autl ori.ies believed soon he would be completely cured.
