London, March 31. It was ,a great day for pretty little Mizzi Pfaller, a dressmaker, who wears her hair in long braids round her head, when the Duke arrived at the Haus Appesbach, in St. Wolfgang. She is being married in traditional peasant style, and, according to custom, will send an envoy to the house inviting its master to the wedding. The Daily Mail says the Duke spent two hours on a visit to the former Imperial villa at Ischl, which he last visited in 1935, with a party which included Mrs. Simpson. He signed the visitors’ book “Edward Herzog von Windsor.” After examining the long wooden peasant pipes in the Emperor’s study, the Duke visited a little shop in the town and bought a pipe. When he asked how he should clean it, he was instructed to use a long feather. A fire broke out to-day in the -woods round the Chateau de Conde, near Tours, where Mrs. Simpson is staying. It is estimated that 20,000 fir trees were burned.
