RESERVE BANK

Communication with the Government. Press Association —Copyright. Wellington, March 30. In the official announcement recently male concerning the allocation of portfolios consequent on the departure of the Prime Miniser, Mr M. J. Savage, it was inadvertently stated that Hon. P. Fraser had been appointed Acting-Minister in Charge of the Reserve Bank. This was incorrect, it is explained, for there is l no statutory provision for the appointment of a Minister in Charge. The channel of communicaion between the bank and the Government, through which the Government’s policy is expressed, is the Minister of Finance, whose duties have been taken over by Mr Fraser during the Minister’s absence.
