LABOUR NEWSPAPERS
Party Decides Cost Too Great Press Association—Copyright. Wellington, March 29. An adverse report on the proposal to establish one or more metropolitan Labour daily newspapers in the Dominion Was presented- at the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party to-day by the National executive committee. Careful consideration had been givm to the desirability of establishing one or more Labour daily papers, -the ereputive reported. The establishment of one ’daily newspaper would involve £lOO,OOO, and four papers, one in each of the main centres, would require £500,000. It was felt that the cost was not justified and that adequate publicity could be secured in other ways. The executive recommended that for the present time an endeavour be i made to raise £25,000 with the object of making the party’s official organ a more effective means of publicity on the existing weekly basis. The conference adopted the recommendation.
