LIVING COSTS RISING

Milk and Tire Prices in Hastings. Hastings, March 29. Indications of a rite in living costs are beginning to show themselves in many p.lte-ces in Hastings and Napier. Two notices were served upon the public yesterday. Milkmen announced, that , as from Tuesday there would be an increase in the price of milk of one penny for certain, and in some twopence a 4uart. Dealers in Hawke’s Bay have also been notified that as from Tuesday tire prices will be increased by 10 per cent, for the larger sizes and 5 per cent, for smaller sizee. The upward trend of the cost of living is now becoming pronounced, and the present rise in the price of milk may further adversely affect consumption in a country where the amount consumed per person ie already below the figures which ’are described as normal.
