AUSTRALIAN ADMIRER Will Recommend Others To Visit Dominion. Press Association—Copyright. Wellington, To-day New Zealand scenery has, in the Hon. H. G. Hawkins, M.L.C. (South Australia), an ardent admirer. Mr. Hawkins, who is accompanied by his wife, arrived at Wellington yesterday after having completed a tour of the South Island. He is chairman oi directors of the South Australian Farmers’ Union, one of the largest concerns of its kind in Australia, and is also a. director of the Producers’ and Citizens’ Co-operative Assurance Co., Ltd., and other important companies in South Australia. “My wife and I have very much enjoyed our visit,” Mr Hawkensj stated last night, “and on my return I shall strongly recommend Australians to visit New Zealand for a holiday. The two countries are so close that it is easy for Australians to come here, and they will be rewarded by scenery utterly different from what they have been used to. There is one other point, too, which should not be forgotten, and that is the exchange does not operate against Australians coming to New Zealand as it does when they go to England or the Continent.”

Mr. Hawkins arrived at Franz Josef glacier on a beautifully fine day, and with Captain Mercer at the controls, flew over the glacier. The glorious red of the rata in the Arthur’s Pass district excited his deepest admiration, and the fact that he saw the blossoms through the slight snowstorm —almost unknown in the locality in February —in no way detracted from his enjoyment of the scene. Mr. Hawkins is to leave to-day on a tour of the North Island. He intends to visit Napier, Wairakei, Rotorua, Waitomo Caves, Hamilton and Auckland. Leaving New Zealand, Mr Hawkins will travel to Honolulu. Canada. the United States, Japan and China.
